Using conditionals in an email
When building an email, you can either apply a reusable conditional or define an inline conditional as a one-off.
See Defining conditionals for more information about branches, conditional syntax, Dynamic Content Profiles, and creating reusable conditionals.
Using a conditional on a component
Section titled “Using a conditional on a component”When you apply a conditional to a component, EmailShepherd creates a version of that component for each branch. Each version can be edited independently, enabling you to show different content to different recipients.
Open the component and select the pie chart icon to open Choose conditional.

Conditional templates
Section titled “Conditional templates”Templates let you save an inline conditional and reuse it as a starting point in other emails.
To save the inline conditional you have defined, select Save as template below the branch editor and give the template a name.
To start from a template, select Copy from a template and choose a template from the list. This copies the template’s branches and syntax into the editor, where you can adjust them freely — your changes do not affect the template itself.

To delete a template, select the trash icon beside it in the template list.
Once the conditional is applied, the component list and preview show a version of the component for each branch.

Select each branch in the component list to edit its content independently.
Using a conditional in a subject or preheader
Section titled “Using a conditional in a subject or preheader”Open the Settings tab and select the pie chart icon beside the subject or preheader.

Select Reusable conditional and choose an existing conditional, or select Inline conditional and define one using the steps above. Select Save when you are finished.
You can then enter different subject or preheader content for each branch.

Filtering conditionals in the preview
Section titled “Filtering conditionals in the preview”Use Filter conditionals to show or hide branches while reviewing how the email will look for different recipients.
