How to generate images with AI

This article shows you how to generate an image with AI, either from the image library or by asking an agent in AI chat.

When you can’t find the right photo, you can describe the image you want and have AI create it. Generated images are saved to your image library, so you can use them in any email.

Each generated image uses one AI credit. This is the case even if your organization has connected its own AI provider.

  1. In the sidebar, click Image Library.
  2. Click Generate with AI.
  3. In Image name, enter a name that helps you find the image later.
  4. In Aspect ratio, choose the shape of the image:
    • 1:1: square, 1024 × 1024 pixels.
    • 16:9 or 4:3: landscape, for hero images and banners.
    • 9:16 or 3:4: portrait.
  5. In Prompt, describe the image you want. See Write a good prompt.
  6. Click Generate.
  7. Check the image, then:
    • Click Add to library to save it to your image library.
    • Click Generate another to try again.

While you’re building an email with AI chat, ask the agent for the image you need, for example:

  • “Generate a hero image of a couple laughing on a beach at sunset.”
  • “Create a 16:9 banner of a modern office with plants and natural light.”

When the agent asks for approval, click Approve. The agent generates the image, saves it to your image library, and can then use it in your email.

Be specific. Instead of “A person using a computer”, try “A woman using a laptop in a bright modern office, natural lighting, realistic photo”.

Include:

  • The subject: who or what is in the image, and what they’re doing.
  • The setting: where it is, and the time of day.
  • The style: such as a realistic photo, an illustration or a flat graphic.
  • Colors and mood: such as your brand colors, or a calm, energetic or festive feel.
  1. In the top-left of the sidebar, click your organization’s name, then select Organization settings.
  2. Select the App configuration tab.
  3. Under AI, turn Image generation enabled on or off.
  4. Click Save Changes.

When it’s off, nobody in your organization can generate images, in the image library or in AI chat. To stop only agents generating images, see Choose what agents can do.
